CASTELLO DI GARGONZA
We all stay at the Castello di Gargonza, a village
between Siena and Arezzo surrounded by the Chianti hills of southern Tuscany, in which the traditional houses have been converted into hotel accommodation. There are double rooms and also two, three and four bedroom houses, each
room with a private bathroom. The special Music at Gargonza rate for half board – bed, breakfast and dinner with wine – is
€107 per night for double occupancy and €125 for single.
We will reserve a room for you when you register; you pay the charges directly to the hotel. Arezzo, forty minutes away by road, is the nearest railway station, so the most convenient airports are Pisa, Roma, Florence and Perugia. We will help arrange and coordinate taxis for the last stage of your journey to Gargonza.
The plan is to meet at the Castello di Gargonza for a 5pm rehearsal Sunday 15 April. Then from Monday to Friday there will be rehearsal sessions each morning and another at the end of the
afternoon in the frantoio, a comfortable rehearsal room converted from the old olive press. We all have dinner together in the Castello. We will give a final concert in the small village church in the evening of Friday 20 April.
The course ends after breakfast on Saturday 21 April.
FEES AND ENROLMENTThe fee for the course is paid in two parts: a deposit of
£225 or the equivalent in euros on registration (this will be returned in full if you have to withdraw before 1 February; after that you may hold it over to another course) and €300 on or before arrival at Gargonza. The fee
includes payment for the booklet containg all the public domain music, which will be sent to you in advance, but not travel; meals and accommodation are paid separately directly to the hotel. To enrol, just email us
and include the information listed below, or if we already know it just let us know that you would like to come. We will then send you details of how you may pay the deposit.
